1st Progress Report

We may have a perfectly adequate way of doing something, but that does not mean there cannot be a better way. So we set out to find an alternative way. This is the basis of any improvement that is not fault correction or problem solving. — Edward de Bon

The above mentioned quote perfectly resonates with our experience. At the start all our members came up with some interesting ideas and we cordially decided to blend several ideas to tract one route for pitching it to the next step. Ostensibly, we all were right on the spot

We decided to pitch the idea of developing a citizen STEM portal and an open source society to promote STEM Education in Pakistan.

Background Research

According to the research paper published in International Transaction Journal of Engineering, Management, & Applied Sciences & Technologies , titled ‘’ An Overview on STEM Education in Pakistan: Situation and Challenges ‘’ , we evaluated the scenario of STEM education in Pakistan. Some of the statistical results from that research paper are given below.

The aforementioned Data shows that in Pakistan the amount of work regarding STEM has experience decline with the course of time. Alongside, the greater percentage of students in the public sector also show the attention towards the need of promotion of STEM education. In Pakistan, public sector institute are not well — equipped with the standard protocols, when it comes to awakening masses about the practical education. Also, due to low — cost culture of teaching profession in Pakistan, the standard of education has experience substantial decline the standard of education.

Based on our literature studies and research about the STEM education, we believe that it’s the right time to pitch the idea and aware students, general public and the stakeholders about the importance of STEM education in sustainable development.

What we have planned

Based on our research and understanding, we plan to introduce a portal that can help students, researchers , and STEM enthusiasts from across the Pakistan to share their knowledge , projects and ideas in the form of STEM stories , blogs , podcasts , courses and DIY Projects.

We are only building the platform in the name of STEM CELL PAKISTAN aimed at development of an open Source society as a citizen STEM portal to promote STEM education and the idea of skills future among the masses by providing platform for cross disciplinary research and collaboration to bridge the gap between science, society and technology. We are a team of STEM enthusiasts hailing from multidisciplinary fields of sciences and technology. We are on a journey to Capable Pakistani students to become lifelong learner in the field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

What we decided to do in the first step

To start thing from the grass root level, the most tedious job is to first streamline the idea and to paste it in the document form. Following tasks are assigned to the group members as per the concept of priority matrix.

1. Documentation ( vision , aims , objectives , mission , proposal ) by sub group A ( Atif , Muneeba , Arooj , Qadeer, Kainat)

2. Website layout , domain , hosting procedure by sub group B ( Aftab , Areeba , Shahid , Yahya )

3. Social media stuff , Youtube intro , Facebook intro and logo designing, Meeting with stakeholders —( Atif, Areeba)

What we have done

With the will of Almighty Allah and the cooperation from the fellows we did an incredible job and being a leader of such group I feel very proud of my circle and appreciate the amount of hard work and efforts they have put in it. The details of our work are there in the link below

Reflections

Learning is a Lifelong Process :“We now accept the fact that learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change. And the most pressing task is to teach people how to learn.”

Every experience gives you some kind of lesson and this journey towards Mega Project is wholesome of lessons everyday. From presenting ideas in beginning and then transforming those ideas into actions while considering all circle fellows point of view wasn’t an easy task but by following Amal’s principle of Ek or Ek Gyara we were able to streamline things in an effective manner.

“The path to success is to take massive, determined actions.”

Finalizing documentation work, and the to put these ideas into action, proper guidance was required. Professionals were contacted in this regard to align the ideas and plans, contacting them was one of the tedious task. As the were having busy schedule, but by putting Amal learning of Business and formal writings in the form of Email we were able to contact with them and arranged meeting for discussing our initiative.

• Theme selection and construction of website.
• Uploading the finalized documentation stuff on website.
• Uploading details of partners and collaborators on social media platforms
